SNC-Lavalin Europe BV has just signed a services contract with Pechiney Netherland N.V. to modernize its aluminum smelter in Vlissingen, The Netherlands. The anticipated capital cost of the modernization is approximately US$100 million.

Mikhail Kasyanov, the Russian Prime Minister, was present today in Montreal for the signing of a Memorandum for Cooperation between SNC-Lavalin and Russian Aluminium (RusAl). Signing on behalf of their companies were Jacques Lamarre, President & CEO of SNC-Lavalin, and Alexander Livshits, Deputy General Director of RusAl.

Kluane First Nation, Ta'an Kwach'an Council, Dakwakada Forest Products. Inc. and White River First Nation recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SNC-Lavalin Inc., Golden Hill Ventures Ltd., and ACR Systems Inc. to jointly pursue business opportunities in the Yukon.

SNC-Lavalin and its South African partner, Murray & Roberts were awarded the Project Management Institute's 2001 Project of the Year award today for their work on the Mozal Aluminum Smelter in Mozambique.

SNC-Lavalin's presence in central Canada has just increased with the recent acquisition by SNC-Lavalin Audet of the engineering consulting firm, Roberts, Sloane & Associates, Inc.
